Tutto pronto per la nuova edizione, la 50esima, di Les Rencontres d’Arles 2019. Un traguardo davvero importante questo – per il festival creato dal fotografo Lucien Clergue, lo storico Jean-Maurice Rouquette e lo scrittore Michel Tournier – che porterà al festival 50 mostre, oltre a eventi, incontri e opportunità di condivisione sul mondo della fotografia.

Le mostre da vedere
Come dicevamo, sono 50 le mostre da vedere in questa edizione 2019. Iniziamo con la sezione ‘My Body is a Weapon‘ con le fotografie di Libuše Jarcovjáková, il progetto sulle relazioni umane di Pixy Liao, una collettiva sul corpo, con fotografie della Germania dell’Est, dal 1980 al 1989. E poi le foto di Evangelia Kranioti, una collettiva ‘La Movida’ sulla cultura contemporanea in Spagna.
Per la sezione ‘On the Edge‘, invece, incontriamo i lavori di Marina Gadonneix, Philippe Chancel e Mohamed Bourouissa. A questi si aggiungono due mostre: Germaine Krull, in cui la fotografa tedesca si ispira alla novella ‘Capitaine’ e ‘Walls of power‘ sulle barriere, in crescente aumento, in tutta Europa.
Per la sezione ‘Living‘ altri quattro progetti fotografici. Si tratta dei lavori di Daphné Bengoa & Leo Fabrizio e Mario del Curto e delle due collettive ‘Home sweet home‘ sull’attaccamento degli inglesi alle loro case e ‘The Zone‘ sulle periferie.
‘Rereading‘ è la sezione in cui trovare i lavori di Helen Levitt, Tom Woods, Eve Arnold, Abigail Heyman e Susan Meiselas. A questa si aggiunge la collettiva ‘Avant-garde‘ con alcune foto di Berenice Abbott, Florence Henri, Germaine Krull…
Per The Other Photography, da vedere la collezione di Bruno Decharme & compagnie, le cartoline di Postacards e The Saga of invention, con alcune fotografie vintage.
Building The Image è un altra sezione del festival da vedere. Qui i lavori -elaborati- di Valérie Belin, Yann Pocreau, Laurence Aëgerter, Claude Martin-Rainaud, Randa Mirza, Camille Fallet, Marjan Teeuwen. Oltre ai progetti On Earth sulle relazione uomo e tecnologia e The Anonymous Project, una collezione di diapositive a colori amatoriali degli ultimi 70 anni.
Platforms of the visibile presenta due progetti: Eldorado di Lutz, e il progetto Emeric Lhuisset, vincitore del BMW residency.
Da vedere, poi, la sezione dedicata ai fotografi emergenti e alle loro sperimentazioni fotografiche; la sezione dedicata al premio Louis Roederer e la sezione Buon compleanno Arles.
